MINDCOPING — Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the MINDCOPING mobile app (“MINDCOPING”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and the choices and rights you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
MINDCOPING provides general mental-training and wellbeing content. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is MINDCOPING, based in Denmark. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@mindcoping.com.
2. What data we collect
Information you give us in the app:
- Your daily check-ins (mood scores, tags and reflections).
- The program and focus areas you choose, and any display name you enter.
- Your reminder times and notification preferences.
Information created as you use the app:
- Your progress: streaks, completed sessions, current program day, badges and rewards.
- App settings and which audio you have downloaded for offline use.
Information collected automatically (analytics):
- Through Google Analytics for Firebase: app opens and in-app events, session length, device model and operating system, app version, an analytics identifier, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
We do not collect special-category health data such as medical records or diagnoses. Your check-in entries are personal wellbeing notes that stay under your control as described below.
3. Where your data is stored
- Your progress, check-ins and settings are stored only on your device — they are not sent to us or stored on our servers.
- Downloaded audio is also kept on your device for offline use.
- The only data that leaves your device is anonymous, aggregated usage analytics (see below).
4. How we use your data
- To provide the app’s core features — deliver your program and track your progress, streaks and reminders.
- To schedule the reminder notifications you set up.
- To understand how the app is used and to improve it (analytics).
- To process purchases and manage your membership.
- To keep the app secure and prevent misuse.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to provide the features you ask for.
- Consent — for analytics and for sending notifications; you can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to improve, maintain and secure the app.
6. Notifications
Training reminders are scheduled locally on your device. The content of your reminders is not sent to our servers.
7. Payments
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details — we only receive confirmation that a purchase or subscription is active.
8. Audio content
Guided audio is streamed and downloaded from our content host. To deliver the file, that host processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address). No check-in or progress data is shared for this purpose.
9. Who we share data with
We use the following service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Google (Google Analytics for Firebase) — usage analytics.
- Google Play (Google LLC) — app distribution and payments.
- Our audio content host — to deliver guided audio.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
10. International transfers
Your personal content stays on your device. The analytics provider (Google) may process usage data outside the EU; where it does, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. How long we keep your data
- Your on-device data stays until you remove it (see below) or uninstall the app.
- Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings (up to 14 months).
12. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time.
Because your data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it: you can delete all of it at any time using “Reset app” in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@mindcoping.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. If you are in the EU/EEA, this is your local supervisory authority; the controller's lead authority is the Danish DPA (Datatilsynet).
13. Children
MINDCOPING is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Security
Your data stays on your own device, protected by your device’s security. Any data sent for analytics is transmitted over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
